The Royal Mile in Edinburgh fell silent as the Queen’s coffin made its journey from Holyroodhouse to St Giles’ Cathedral.

The Queen’s four children, led by King Charles III, walked behind the hearse.

News Letter editor Ben Lowry remarked that the only sound was that of horses’ hooves.
