The crash occurred just to the southern edge of the village.

The PSNI said: “Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision, and would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, and witnessed what happened, or who may have captured mobile phone or dash-cam footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 255 27/12/23.”

UUP councillor Darryl Wilson said: “A life lost brings unimaginable grief at any time of year, and must be particularly difficult at a time of year when we traditionally come together with friends and loved ones to celebrate Christmas.

"Can I offer my deepest sympathies to Alan's family, friends and all impacted by this awful tragedy.”
