Child finds ‘suspected rifle’ whilst playing near home - PSNI launch investigation

Police have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing after “a suspected air rifle” was found by a member of the public last night in a NI park.

In a statement the PSNI say the rifle was located “by a member of the public on Sunday evening (April 18th) in the Pitt Park area of East Belfast”.

They added: “The item has been recovered for further examination and an investigation is ongoing.”

Earlier a community post on the ‘Pitt Park’ Facebook page spoke of their concern after “a suspected rifle was found by a child” near a local centre.

The post adds: “Residents recovered the rifle and have immediately notified the PSNI.”
